Tamper-Evident Deli Container Guide for Takeout & Delivery
Delivery apps and grab-and-go cases have made tamper-evident packaging standard for delis, bakeries, salad bars and restaurants. Customers can see right away that nobody opened their food after it left your kitchen.
How tamper-evident containers work
Tear-strip containers like Safe-T-Gard® lock when you close them. To open the container, the customer has to tear off a perforated strip. If the strip is gone, the container has been opened. There are no stickers or seals to apply, which saves time at the packing station.
Choosing a size
- 8–12 oz: sides, dressings, desserts, cut fruit. See TS8 8 oz and TS12 12 oz.
- 16–24 oz: salads by weight, pasta, deli salads, single entrées. See TS16 16 oz, TS20 20 oz and TS24 24 oz.
- 32–48 oz: family-size sides, large salads, bakery assortments. See TS32 32 oz, TS35 35 oz and TS48 48 oz.
- Sandwiches: use the Safe-T-Gard sandwich wedge container.
- Round bowls: for soups-to-go and grain bowls (cold), see the 8 oz round and 32 oz round bowls.
A budget option: Safe Pinch®
For high-volume, lower-cost packaging, the Safe Pinch® 6" x 5" hinged containers in 8 oz, 12 oz and 16 oz also have a tamper-evident closure.
Tips
- These clear containers are for cold or room-temperature foods. Don't use them in the microwave or oven.
- Standardize on two or three sizes to keep your packing station simple.
- Ordering by the case is far cheaper than buying sleeves.
